The owner of the company came to our department today and went straight to the “visor” asking her for some reports. She was clueless. He asked her what her title was and she answered him slowly her title. He asked what she do. She was speechless with um…um…. ko loi noi. That’s when the chief director flew out from his office and came to her rescue. What are your thoughts on this?

In your opinion, what does that "visor" do BB? Is her english just poor but she's capable in her job?

Since you work in that company, you should know whether the supervisor is capable or did she get hired because she's "connected".

My opinion by itself don’t matter. It’s the whole department opinions that are important.
We work with her on a daily basis and we all know what she can perform and can’t. Even if they demote her and make her like the rest of us, she’s still not capable of doing the job. She might be good with something else but this job is not right for her, period.

Your question sound judgmental. Maybe you’re that type of person who judge a person by their English and not their performance and what they can do for the team. FYI: I’m a minority too. Btw: she’s my trang and has a memory of Dory the fish, so there.

I’m just curious to know what that big kahuna was thinking when he flew out to her rescue. She’s been here 2 years and don’t even know how to print “that” report for crying out loud. Wow, wow, and wow. Lol

My coworkers told me they’ve talked to the vice director who said the big kahuna will review her. then what? She will get promoted to manager? Time for all of us to start looking!!!!lol

I think you have misunderstood. I was not trying to judge at all. Since I don't know much anything about that lady, I asked if her english was poor which could be an explanation why she was not able to answer the owner's question.

Long ago my father was a Gẻneral Manager for a Windows/Doors factory that was own by an American man. My father hired many Vietnamese men in to work and some did not speak much English but they were hard workers. The few that can speak English (including my Dad) would have to help them by giving instructions in Vietnamese so they know what to do.

But now you said she's a mỹ trắng lady then I don't really know why she was unable to tell the owner she her duties were!

BB think your boss is incompetent at her job and incapable of running the team. There are not enough info, so I will attempt to answer two facts that I can see from your question.

Being on the job for 2 years doesn't mean a boss can run any reports, especially, the ones at the owner requested once in a while. I assume they are very complicated reports, the type that would need past data compilation that she either doesn't have access to or no longer exist in data base. That explained why your boss was hesitated in answering the owner. The owner sounded frustrated because that was how the top bosses acted and behaved. They wanted everything done immediately regardless how impossible it might be.

The chief director flew out of his office and came to her rescue. It may look he came to her defense, but it could be because he knows the owner well, knows how tough the owner can be, and he knows the type of reports the owner asked for is not easily done by a boss who is still a newbie at it.

BB also mentioned your boss came to you asking for help on certain things. There are things that a boss do which is management and things that her team do which is a "how to" that a boss doesn't do often on a regular basis.

Gosh hôm nay tui slow pepper sao đọc mấy comments này 0 hiểu được ý là gì. Are we still talking about the same super"visor" that BB said could not even answer the owner's simple question as to what she does & had to be rescue by the manager?
