More than 125 million people are under heat alerts across the US
A heat dome which began last week in the Southwest has shifted over the central US, where heat and humidity will climb together to levels which will significantly impact the human body.
“This is a day where not only folks who are susceptible to heat-related illnesses, but really just about anybody that’s going to be outside for an extended period of time is at risk for heat-related illnesses,” Beitscher said.
More than 125 million people are under heat alerts, which include excessive heat warnings and heat advisories, across much of the central and eastern states Monday evening. This is over one-third of the US population. Cities under excessive heat warnings include Tulsa, Memphis, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Raleigh and Charlotte.

thời tiết bây giờ thấy sợ qua, tui nhớ ngày xưa trời mưa, nhiều lúc không cần che dù , chạy cái ào là không bị ước áo, còn bây giờ mưa 1 cái ào, che dù láng cháng cũng bị ước quần, ước giày, nhớ nhất là tiểu bang Missouri vào tháng 8, nơi người CG hay tổ chức Đai Hội Thánh Mẫu, trời mưa như là không chịu dứt

More than 500,000 customers currently without power are also facing extreme heat today
More than 500,000 utility customers who are currently without power because of yesterday’s severe weather in the Midwest and the Ohio River Valley are also under excessive heat warnings or heat advisories for today, according to analysis from CNN Weather using power outage numbers from PowerOutage.us.
Nearly 300,000 of them are in Ohio, with the rest being in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and West Virginia. Key cities impacted include Cincinnati, Chicago and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Locations in the heat alert areas will see dangerous heat indices between 100 and 110 degrees this afternoon, which can turn deadly for those without access to air conditioning.
