Health Canada Warning: Immediately Throw Away Your Romaine Lettuce

There's been an outbreak of E. coli.

Health Canada has just issued a warning to residents of Ontario and Quebec to stop consuming romaine lettuce.

TL;DR Romaine lettuce has been linked to an E. coli outbreak in the U.S. and Canada. An investigation is ongoing. In the meantime, Health Canada is warning people in Ontario and Quebec to stop eating the lettuce. Scroll down for a list of symptoms of an E. coli infection.

The reason: an outbreak of E. coli that has produced dozens of cases of illness in the United States and Canada.
"There have been 18 confirmed cases of E. coli illness investigated in Ontario (3) and Quebec (15)," according to the press release.

Because the investigation is ongoing and no single brand has been identified as a carrier, the health agency is telling individuals to "avoid eating romaine lettuce and salad mixes containing romaine lettuce until more is known about the outbreak."
E. coli is a bacteria found in the intestines of cattle but can spread to produce that has come into contact with their feces, the press release explains.
Symptoms of an infection in humans include:

• nausea
  
• vomiting
  
• headache
  
• mild fever
  
• severe stomach cramps
  
• watery or bloody diarrhea
  

The current strain is expecially pernicious and is "more likely than other strains to cause severe illness. Pregnant women, those with weakened immune systems, young children and older adults are most at risk for developing serious complications," states Health Canada.

Romaine lettuce hay bị. Tui ăn red leaf lettuce most of the time.

Chít mồ rồi. Gà hay ăn romaine lettuce for lunch lắm...nguyên tuần nay đã ăn và bây giờ còn 1 bịch mua ở Costco nửa nè!

Ăn vào 2 ngày rồi 0 có symptoms thì safe chưa? Trong sở còn 1 cây đáng lẽ hôm nay ăn nửa cho hết .  Điệu này chắc 0 dám ăn nửa....nấu mì gói ăn instead!

Cho hỏi nếu nghiêm trọng như vậy thì tại sao chợ và nhà hàng vẫn còn bán romaine lettuce? Hôm nọ ra Wendy ăn trưa với salad, chả thấy gì ... Chắc ai sức đề kháng yếu mới thấy bị ảnh hưởng liền, I think!

chăc giờ hết bán rồi

nhiều suppliers nhưng có 1 supplier bị , giờ họ đang coi supplier nào

E-Coli thì đề kháng mạnh cỡ nào mà ăn trúng cũng bị hêt ...

Ai trong nhà có romaine lettuce thì bỏ đi nha. Đưng tiếc. CDC ra warning là mua ở đâu cũng nên bỏ hết, no matter what brand.
Hôm qua đi costco đâu thấy costco bán nửa đâu.

Tui lỡ mua ở Farm thì có sao hong ? Hong có tên tuổi gì hết, chỉ wrap trong plastic bag thôi .

I do it all the time, especially with strawberry or nhu*~ng fruits ma` mi`nh a(n kho^ng lo^.t vo? . I am doing it with ALL salad and rau (i.e. spinach....) as well.

It NEVER tasted sour of gia^'m because I rinsed it off 2-3 times with water anh. Gia^'m is VERY good to clean out everything.

Em dùng tỉ lệ dấm nhiều quá làm chị tưởng có mục đích gì khác nữa . Theo chị thì 1 dấm 9 nước đủ rồi.
