AGI nó được tính trước standard or itemized deduction nên đừng có lấy gross income trừ một trong hai cái đó. Có những trường hợp gross income và AGI giống nhau vì họ không có gì để claim như business loss. Nhiều người gross income lại thấp hơn AGI vì họ có business income nên phải cộng thêm vô mới trở thành AGI.
Nói tới tax, it is complicated.

Xin đính chính tax is not my specialty field. Mình chỉ được đếm beans thôi chứ 0 được đóng thuế cho beans!

Từ hồi lấy chồng tới giờ mình chưa bao giờ khai thuế hết.

Yup. Từ tax year 2018 and 2019 so far, có thêm cột "Qualified business income deduction" (thay vì "Exemption" như từ năm 2017 trở về trước) in between, có nghĩa là sau standard or itemized deduction, có thêm cái này làm giảm bớt taxable income.

Taxable Amount is the total tax that would include Federal Tax Liability (or tax table) + any untaxable income ..

Take Gross Income (payroll + investments: stocks, rental properties + any taxable items) minus any deductions and / or payment to come to Adjusted Gross Income.

So, standard deductions or itemized deductions Are Not Taxable Ạmount. .. They are methods of deductions.

Meiji gì đó viết là "standard deduction or itemized deduction là taxable amount" xong rồi edit lại đó .. Bà không chịu hiểu thì tui không có ép bà hiểu làm gì .

Từ năm 2018 trở đi thì personal exemption đã bị bỏ rồi.
