Dallas Police received 371 accident-related calls Monday as ice began accumulating across the state, according to police spokesperson Brian E. Martinez.
From 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. local time Tuesday, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) responded to at least 146 motor vehicle accidents.

Due to anticipated inclement weather, several school districts across Texas have announced they will be closing their campuses on Tuesday.
The following districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area will be closed:

Dallas Independent School District
Fort Worth Independent School District
South Lake Carroll Independent School District
Plano Independent School District
Frisco Independent School District

The following districts in the Austin area will be closed:

Austin Independent School District
Bastrop Independent School District
Blanco Independent School District
Burnet Consolidated Independent School District

The freezing rain began Monday and is expected to last through Thursday morning. The ice will stretch from Texas through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and into Kentucky.

The icy weather will stretch from Texas to Oklahoma City to Little Rock to Memphis to most of Kentucky.

By Tuesday evening, the ice will be falling in Austin and Dallas as well as Little Rock, Arkansas; and Memphis and near Nashville, Tennessee.
On Wednesday morning, the heaviest ice will be in Texas from Midland to Austin and into Dallas.

Ice accumulation could near 1 inch in some spots, covering power lines, roads and sidewalks.
