Child dies in Fourth of July crash driver arrested for manslaughter

SAN ANTONIO — Police say a 5-year-old boy died when he was ejected from a car during a multi-vehicle crash along I-10 on the evening of July Fourth.
According to San Antonio authorities, the child, Tony Tran, was not using a child seat when the car he was in suddenly braked in the southbound lanes near Santa Paula around 5:30 p.m. That caused the car to be hit from behind before it swerved and collided with a truck.
The driver of the car Tony was riding in, 22-year-old Doan Khanh Thuc Mai, has been arrested on manslaughter charges. Police haven't specified their relationship to the child.
Another person was hospitalized in the wreck, which resulting in a portion of I-10 being shut down for hours Tuesday night.
