My SIL cũng remodel her master bathroom nhưng she than là too stressful for her trong khi đó thì Gà found it kind of fun. Mới đầu SIL nói she also wants to remodel her kitchen. I don't think she needs too because everything is still very good condition she only needs to change some of hẻ appliances since they are not working as well as b4 thôi. She nói là muốn có white cabinets mà tủ hiện tại là màu maple. I personally don't like white cabinets in the kitchen because it will show all the oil residues and also because so many houses have white cabinets now!

Nhưng bây giờ SIL đồi ý vì she found remodeling is too stressful since she has to make too many decisions and sometimes have to go for alternatives if what she wants are not available. She said she already lost some sleeps when she has to change tiles because the ones she wanted was back ordered!

I told her don't expect everything to be perfect choices....just think it's the best choices at the time and also embraced what you picked....eventhough later on you realized you may made some not so good choices!

Gà mua hardwood floors & shoes molding ở tiệm và họ referred me to an installer who charges $2/square foot! Cross my fingers he will be good!

Gà nghỉ chờ lâu hơn thì vật giá lại leo thang hơn nửa...I don't think it will go down!

Does the contractor have to tear down existing tiles or remove the old bath tub and rebuilt everything? Did he have to relocate any plumbing? How big is the standing shower area?

Originally my contractor charges me $14.5K to remodel our bathroom for labor & materials (standing shower area is about 5'x3.5'). I did paid him extra for:

+$1K to buy & install the pocket door frame
+$600 to upgrade the tiles.

Does she already have the standing shower and only need to have a bench install? If so, she can just buy the bench for like a $100 and put in her shower.

OX nói đừng làm cái bench vì 0 cần và nó làm chật cái shower area hơn. Nhưng Gà nói sẳn thì kêu họ làm luôn trong tương lai có thể cần xài khỏi phải làm lại!

Below is the detail quote he gave me. There were some upgrades/modifications that we did.

1) He gave me only $100 for vanity light plus 2 mirrors but did not indicated the allowance. In the end we went with his recommendation to get the LED mirror with light & antifog and it was around $450-$500 for 60x36 inches at home depot that he installed for us without additional cost.

2) We requested him to install 2 pocket doors (instead of regular doors) for our bathroom & closet. He charged us $600 extra to build the frame/installation. We bought the frames & sliding kits for $500/each. I found them on ebay for 1/2 of normal price of $1K/each.

3) We upgraded the tiles and they were like $9/square feet vs $4/allowance. The difference was another $600.

4) We asked them to also repaint my husband's office ($300) & upstairs hallway ($500). The hallway costs more because they had to repain all 4 bedrooms/1bathroom doors, all the trims/moldings top & bottom, and the staircase too.

5) Instead of having 6 recess lights in our bedrrom, we opted for 4 plus 2 wall sconces.

Here are some pix that I quickly snapped last night as we tried to move back from the other room so the hardwood person can finish for today!

1) They did the wiring for the 2 wall sconces & fan but we bought for the lights & fan.



2) Our brand new 72 inches bathroom vanity that we bought locally through FB Market Place for $750 (sold on Wayfair for $K+).  He credited us back $1200 which is the allowance given.  The mirror is 60x36 and has 3 variation of lights including lights for makeup & anti-fog.

3) I am so glad he was able to build that tiny linen closet on the right so we can put towels/toilet papers etc (only 14 inches wide).  Originally I was going to buy a separate standing linen cabinet but he told me he can build it for me.  He could find any 12 inch door so he use 1 panel of a 24 inches folding door for my closet (they still need to paint around the door knob since it was installed after it was painted.

Chac nam sau ( nam nay save $) em remodel cai' master bathroom include : put in new vanity and mirror, thay gach., change toilet and maybe replace cai' pocket door .
Co' cha My? này chi? charge labor, material mình mua hêt' ....he gives a quote pretty fast but cung khoang? 3 tuân he moi start làm duoc.

Thật ra thì mấy cái upgraded đó cũng 0 phải là necessity mà mình want to have stronger frames thôi.  Một khi họ làm rồi mà phải sửa thì rất khó nên thà bỏ tiền thêm từ lúc đầu cho peace of mind.

1) Tụi này decided to go for the pocket doors vì 0 muốn nó swing in the bathroom right against our standing shower và cũng 0 muốn nó swingout right into the walkway when we enter the room.  We could have gotten cheaper pocket door frame for like $200 each but opted to buy the heavy duty brand "Cavity Sliders" which is sold at HD for like $1K/each but I found them on ebay for $500.  I will need to buy a mirror to insert in the door.

2) Còn tiles upgrades thì trong Floor & Decor cũng có bán rất nhiều loại $4/sq feet và nhìn cũng đẹp.  But I liked some tiles at the multi-millions dollars home that he was building and it costed like $9-$10 square feet. Phòng tắm của Gà cũng nhỏ nên I figured $600 upgrade is still affordable.  I love to have "patterns" on my accent wall so I went with that tile.  I love the marble/stone veins look...to me it's like art!  It's something that you either love or hate!   My SIL's taste/style is a very neutral/basic so it's too much for her.  My nephew/niece said the tiles looked like something that wowed them in a 5-stars hotel but they would not pick it for their bathroom.  

Both my SIL & my nephew/niece are also remodeling their bathroom and their tiles are either white with light grey veins that I see many homes have or just neutral shades of white metro tiles.  Both are too basics for my taste!

Cai' này là personal taste kho' noi' ....

Gà seem to like bold / strong pattern , like the paint color in your bed room.

Rat nhieu.nguoi use marble styles ....my bathroom was small so i used white color tiles with texture with some accents to lighten up.

Em nho* ' vu. Vanity thi cha nhà này wss picky to choose the design that co' gì bi.hu* he chui cai'đâu- vô trong sua dê?...lol.

Even our lighting fixtures looked different/modern than traditional ones.  I love the 2 geometric wall sconces and this light also gives a different glow to the stairwell!

The Cabana Blue/Green paint for our bedroom wall is also something that my SIL & Nephew/niece would never consider but they did said it turned out nice! The fan is Hunter Maximus!
