Does anyone know?

My coworker gave me a “peony” or “lilac” root a few months ago. Our landscape wasn’t
done yet so I temporarily planted them in the pot with my sage. My mission today was to put them in the ground so I dug some holes and guess what I found?

Eggs. Does anyone know what kind of eggs these are? If they’re bird eggs, they can stay there but if they’re snake eggs then....what should I do?

I think they’re quail eggs. I saw 2 quail birds on the fence earlier so it must be theirs. I want to go measure the eggs but afraid that the parents would reject the eggs if they couldn’t smell their own scent. What do you think?

Just leave as is and monitor them

The eggs are in this pot. I found some of my cherries half eaten from the tree. I don’t think snakes would eat those fruits. I feel much better now.

He’s probably the dad. Omg, I got nothing better to do today.

Thank Buddha they’re not Spider eggs since spider eggs look like cotton balls.

Update: It’s so cool. I’m sure they’re quail eggs since I saw the dad standing on the fence yesterday. Mom was in there cleaning her nest and laid another egg making them 8 up to date.

It’s 100% confirmed that they’re quail eggs since I saw the mom in there incubating her eggs yesterday.

I choose not to eat them because:
1. They’re too cute
2. They’re too small to fill me up
3. I’m not starving or stranded on an island and have to eat to live

It’s so exciting. Up to date, she has a total of 10  eggs in her nest.  I wonder when they’ll hatch?

The parents come frequently now. I went outside to water the plants yesterday around 6:30 and mom was in her nest so I left. Hubby let thang B outside around 730 and told me mom’s gone and that’s when I went out to check her egg count. I wonder when she’ll stop laying eggs.

I noticed the mom never left her nest Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday night, I went out to water the plants and saw her in there again. She turned around and looked at me in the eyes. I then went back inside since I didn’t want to interrupt her. A few hours later, I went out to check up on her again since I was afraid she might be dead from heat stroke. Thank God she wasn’t there so I got to water the plants finally and check the egg count which is still at 10. They’re hatching soon!!!!Yayyy!!!🥳
